Hal Lindsey Report (10-12-2012): Pulpit Freedom Day, "Last Days" Politics, Oxcarts and Ferraris, Ferraris for Everyone!, Preparing for War?, Iran Deploys to Sinai, A Widening Conflict

***********************************************************************************
On Sunday, October 7, more than 1,500 pastors across America defied the US government.
No embassy walls were toppled or flags torn down and burned. No property was damaged and no one was wounded or killed. No troops were called up to restore order.
Yet these pastors openly - and some might say brazenly - defied the government of the United States.
To be accurate, they defied the Internal Revenue Service, which is an arm of the US government. More specifically, they defied an obscure and flawed amendment added to the federal tax code in 1954.
This amendment - promoted by and named for then-Texas Senator Lyndon B. Johnson - declares that an organization that holds 501(c)(3) tax-exempt status "may not participate or intervene in any political campaign on behalf of or in opposition to any candidate for public office."
Since then, atheist organizations and Left-leaning politicians have used the Johnson amendment to selectively intimidate churches, pastors, and ministries into silence on moral and cultural issues that might have any remotely political connection.
In recent years, the atheist group "Americans United for Separation of Church and State" has sent thousands of letters to churches warning them against engaging in "partisan politicking." The letters invoke the specter of the IRS swooping down on the church to revoke its tax-exempt status and, by implication, forcing it to close its doors.
The reality is that in almost 60 years since the insertion of that amendment to the federal tax code, not one church has had its tax-exempt status revoked for "partisan politicking." Yet the Left has used this threat to bludgeon the leaders of an estimated 350,000 congregations into silence on vital moral, cultural, financial, spiritual, and social issues that might be decided at the ballot box.
That's why more than 1,500 pastors participated in the third "Pulpit Freedom Sunday." They preached sermons that dealt directly with issues that will be determined in the next election. They also named candidates, discussed their views on these issues, and made specific recommendations to their congregations about who they should vote for in order to uphold the values of the Bible, the church, and most Americans.
The pastors videotaped or made audio recordings of their messages, then sent them directly to the Internal Revenue Service. This relieved the critics and enemies of the church of the need to send 'spies' to the church to make clandestine recordings and then write letters of complaint to the IRS.
The goal of "Alliance Defending Freedom," the organizers of "Pulpit Freedom Sunday," is to force the hand of the IRS and make it enforce the Johnson Amendment. That will then allow them to bring the case to court and let the courts decide if it is constitutional - which, in my humble opinion, it, most definitely, is not!
Though the constitutionality of the Johnson Amendment has never been tested, for six decades it has been the Left's most reliable weapon for silencing God's voice in the public square. Those who are now defying them firmly believe that it should be the pastor who determines what is preached from the pulpit, not the IRS.
Folks, this is why "Pulpit Freedom Sunday" is so important: As Americans, we believe that freedom of speech is a sacred right. The Declaration of Independence is clear and specific in acknowledging that our inalienable rights do not come from government. It deliberately says that our rights come from God and so they are beyond the reach of government.
That is part of the reason for the Liberals' assault on God in the public square and their near-berserk reaction to any suggestion that America was founded as a Christian country. If God is a myth, then our God-given rights are a myth, too. For how can rights be given or guaranteed by a myth?
The underlying goal is to remove God from our public consciousness by removing the right of His people to speak for Him. To be more specific, they actually want to remove our nation's conscience by silencing the voices of that conscience.
The Apostle Paul wrote that in the last days a strong delusion will overtake the world that will facilitate the rise of the Antichrist. I believe the conditioning process for this strong delusion is well underway.
Revelation 13 also speaks of a marriage between the religious order and the government during the Tribulation. It would seem logical to me that this union must begin by the government being able to dictate what religious leaders can and cannot say. Sound familiar? In fact, Bible prophecy about the politics of the last days is becoming eerily similar to the politics of OUR day, wouldn't you say?
Now, lest you think this is the only thing I discuss on this week's "Hal Lindsey Report," rest assured, it's not.
I'll also report on the unmanned drone that the Israeli Air Force shot down over Israel last week. Coincidentally, that Unmanned Aerial Vehicle (UAV), was essentially a copy of the RQ-170. Remember the RQ-170? That's the super-advanced, and highly secret, United States UAV that Iran was mysteriously able to commandeer and capture after it flew into Iranian airspace last December.
At the time, the administration's spinmeisters assured us that the RQ-170 was much too advanced to be of any use to Iran. In fact, one analyst said that losing the RQ-170 to Iran was a bit like "dropping a Ferrari into an oxcart culture."
Well, apparently the bumpkins didn't try to hitch an ox to it! Taking a cue from their friends the Russians and Chinese (who paid dearly to get a look at the technology), they reverse-engineered it and now they (or their proxy, Hezbollah) are flying it over Israel to get a closer look.
This apparent miscalculation by some of our defense and intelligence communities' experts makes me a little nervous about some of their other evaluations. For instance, last week The Institute for Science and International Security (ISIS) released a report that estimates that Iran will produce enough weapons-grade uranium to arm a nuclear weapon in the next "two to four months." That's 120 days!
But the report drew a "clear distinction" between Tehran's ability to actually produce a viable warhead and its ability to make the fissile core of a warhead by producing 55 pounds of weapons-grade uranium from its large lesser-enriched stockpiles.
Isn't that sort of like assuming that if one drops "a Ferrari into an oxcart culture," the bumpkins will try to hitch an ox to it? The Iranians proved the administration's experts wrong on that assumption, didn't they! So why should we think they will not surprise us again with how quickly they can produce a working nuclear missile?
On the other hand, that may be why the United States, NATO, and members of the Gulf Cooperation Council just completed the largest naval exercise ever conducted in the Persian Gulf. They were demonstrating our mine-sweeping prowess and how quickly we can take command of the Strait of Hormuz if Iran decides to try and close it.
And there's even more on this week's show, including Iran in the Sinai and the widening conflict between Syria and Turkey.
But, most importantly, this week I'm going to discuss one of the most wonderful and moving passages in all of God's Word - the two views of humanity expressed by the two violent thieves who hung on the crosses beside our Lord Jesus Christ.
If you have ever wondered if there is hope for you; if you have ever thought you were too far gone to find your way home; if you have ever despaired that you could never clean up your life enough to be accepted by Jesus, you MUST hear this touching story. You will find hope for your life and your future. You'll see how easy it is to become a part of God's forever family... today!

PrisonerAlert Update: Young Woman in Tanzania Accused of quran Desecration
Eva Abdullah, 17, welcomed Christ into her life three years ago,
though she grew up Muslim. After her conversion, her parents disowned
her. Her father is a district Islamic leader. She lived with a Christian
pastor until she was arrested.
A group of radicals in her hometown of Bagamoyo on Tanzania’s coast sought to convince her to give up her new Christian faith. When she refused, they falsely accused her of urinating on a Quran, Islam’s holy book. Eva was arrested and put in prison and many Christian leaders were too afraid to get involved in her case because of Muslim dominance in the district. At her trial on July 23, the judge, who was allegedly bribed by the Islamic militants who accused her, sentenced Eva to two years imprisonment.
Update:
A VOM contact visited Eva in October. He brought paperwork for Eva to sign in order for her appeal to be filed in the capital. Some sympathetic attorneys are handling her case and deferring payment. The VOM contact wrote that he was greeted by two Christian female guards who are caring for Eva. They both promised to help keep her safe. Since it was not a day for regularly scheduled prison visits, our contact instead had to hand the paperwork through the thick iron bars and exchange a quick handshake with Eva. "She thanked Jehovah God a lot for our visits," he wrote.

PrisonerAlert Update: Iranian Prisoner Out of Appeals
Farshid Fathi was arrested on Dec. 26, 2010 in a wave of arrests of
believers in Tehran and other areas. Of the 22 believers arrested by
security forces in Tehran, 10 were released after intense questioning
and after they signed agreements to refrain from Christian activities.
Eleven others were also later released. By the end of April, 2010, only
Farshid remained in prison, though his family had paid an enormous bail
sum. He spent nearly a year in solitary confinement.
Farshid, a Christian convert from Islam, was charged with "acting
against national security through membership of a Christian organization, collection of funds,
propaganda against the Islamic Regime by helping spread Christianity in
the country,” and sentenced to six years of imprisonment on March 5,
2012. Though the charge is for his Christian work, authorities tried to
cast his activities as political offenses.
Farshid’s appeal against the charges was rejected in June 2012. He is due to serve the rest of his sentence in Evin Prison.
According to Elam Ministries, Farshid is a shining beacon for Christ in Evin, so much so that the son of an Iranian ayatollah commented on Farshid's sweet nature in a YouTube video. The two shared a cell. The man remarked on how beloved Farshid is among the inmates. Elam described Farshid as “a man after God’s own heart.”
Farshid is married to Leila, and has two children, Rosana and Bardia. Pray that they will be comforted during this time. Pray for steadfast endurance, deep Godly peace and for protection for Farshid in prison. Pray he will remain a shining light in prison and pray for his release."

PrisonerAlert Update: Eritrean Pastors Remain in Prison
Three Eritrean pastors remain in dire conditions in prison in Eritrea,
along with about 2,000 other Christians. Dr. Kiflu Geremeskel, Kidane
Weldou and Haile Nayzgi remain in prison and believers in Eritrea have
heard nothing from the three men recently.
However, one of Dr. Kiflu's church members glimpsed her pastor from a distance during a medical check-up at the hospital. She reported that he had lost a lot of weight and looked frail. She was unable to get closer because of the security detail that accompanied him. Please continue to pray for these men and the other Eritrean believers in prison. Pray that they know they are not forgotten.

PrisonerAlert Update: Youcef Nadarkhani Released!
Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani was released Saturday, Sept. 8, after
a trial where he was found guilty of evangelizing Muslims. Youcef was
not charged with apostasy, or leaving Islam. He was sentenced to three
years, which he's already served. Youcef is free, praise God.
Backstory:
Youcef Nadarkhani, a 34-year-old pastor from Rasht, about 750 miles northwest of Tehran, was arrested in October 2009 after he protested a government policy that required children, including his 8- and 9-year-old sons, to study the Quran in school. Youcef told school officials that the Iranian constitution allows for freedom of religious practice. As a result of his protest, secret police called him before a political tribunal and arrested him for protesting. The charges were later amended to apostasy and evangelism of Muslims. Youcef was tried on Sept. 21–22, 2010 by the 1st Court of the Revolutionary Tribunal and sentenced to death on Nov. 13 for apostasy.
The pastor is imprisoned in Lakan prison, where authorities have used various methods, including medication, to convert him back to Islam.
After Youcef refused to convert to Islam, his wife was arrested, put on trial without an attorney and sentenced to life in prison. She was later released after an attorney appealed her sentence. The Nadarkhanis’ children were cared for by a relative while they were both in prison.

Central Asia--Sewing Machines Help Make Gospel Outreach Possible
Source: VOM Contacts
James 1:17
Ten Christian women in a Central Asian country received sewing machines that will help them generate an income for their families. "Thank you for your blessing," wrote one of the sewing machine recipients. "We wanted to buy a good sewing machine for a long time, but we didn't have funds. It will help us to earn money and to bless other church members." Nearly all the sewing machine recipients mentioned that they will also use the machines to bless other church members with clothing and linens. These families live in an area where potential employers first ask if job applicants are Christians. If the job applicants say they are, they will not be hired. Each of these families is involved in ministry. The sewing businesses will also allow them to be flexible with their work hours so they have more opportunity for ministry. One mother of four who received a sewing machine wrote, "I will teach my children, and we will serve our church and neighbors with a practical gospel." Thank you for your part in blessing these women with sewing machines. Praise God for his work in Central Asia.
Kenya--Boy Dies in Al-Shabaab Attack on Church

1 Peter 1:6–7
A grenade tossed near the Sunday school area of ACK Polycarp Church in Nairobi on Sunday, Sept. 30 took the life of a 9-year-old boy and injured several more severely. John Ian Maina suffered fatal injuries in the explosion that happened as he waited around 10:25 a.m. with a group of other children for Sunday school to start. Police had just warned the previous day that al-Shabaab was planning retaliatory attacks in the country following the capture of Kismayu port by the Kenya Defense Forces in southern Somalia. St. Polycarp's is near Eastleigh, a district of Nairobi popularly known as "Little Mogadishu" due to its many Somali immigrants. The bomb left a six-inch deep, 12-inch wide hole in the floor. Pray for Christians in Kenya, who are increasingly subject to harm at the hands of al-Shabaab militants from Somalia.
Nigeria--Students Shot to Death in Apparent Boko Haram Attack
Source: BBC News, Release International
Mark 13:24
Twenty-two students were shot dead or stabbed at a Federal Polytechnic University in northeastern Nigeria in Adamawa state Oct. 2 by suspected Boko Haram militants. Just after midnight, men in military uniform entered a residence hall and called some students by name. The students were marched out of their rooms and lined up outside the building. Some were shot, and others were knifed. Their bodies were left lying in lines. Some of the dead were Muslims, while others were Christians. Police aren't sure why the 22 students and three security guards were killed, though the military arrested dozens of people suspected of Boko Haram links days earlier. Cell towers in the area were recently attacked by Boko Haram, making getting information out of the area difficult. One of the students told BBC News, "Everybody is scared." Pray God will show his power in defeating Boko Haram and that members of the group will turn to Christ.

Iran--Friend and Ministry Partner Passes Away
Source: VOM Sources
Revelation 21:3-5
A VOM partner reported last week that a dear friend and important Christian leader in Iran has died after a long illness. "Glory be to God because [my friend] is now in His arms and without pain," wrote the VOM partner. The man who died leaves behind a wife of just a few years. "Please pray for us," the VOM partner asked, "because he was our best friend, confidant and co-worker. I have personally known him for almost eight years, and for all of us it's very difficult. In Iran, church is more of a family than a place we meet, and we really feel that we have lost our brother. His place is so empty without him." Praise God for this man's life, and thank God for the people he touched through his work for Christ. Please lift up the Christian leader's wife, our partner in Iran and all believers who share Christ in Iran.
Tanzania--Muslim Radicals Burn Christians' Homes and Livestock
Source: VOM Sources
1 Peter 4:12-13
Extremists in Tunduru District in southwestern Tanzania burned the homes and livestock of several Christians on Sept. 17. One home was burned to the ground, but bystanders managed to save five others from complete destruction by dousing them with water. The Muslim extremists also burned more than 60 pigs belonging to Christians. In another recent incident in the region, the cars of a Pentecostal pastor and another believer were burned on the night of Sept. 25. "It's unfortunate to say that even though all these incidents were duly reported to the nearby police stations, no one has been arrested so far," a VOM contact said. He explained that 80 percent of the region is Muslim. "Please do pray with us against this demonic spirit of attacks on Christians and their properties!" he added.
China--Shouwang Believers Rejoice During Hardship

Psalm 33:22
Believers at Beijing's Shouwang Church in China are full of joy despite 17 months of outdoor worship and continual arrests. The believers have been meeting outdoors ever since the government began blocking their efforts to rent or purchase worship space. During their 38th worship service of the year, 22 believers were arrested. Ten were quickly released, but the others were detained at a local police station until afternoon. Shouwang Church has submitted an application for an official administrative review in response to the harassment and continual arrests by authorities. Please pray that the administrative review will recognize the persecution these believers face and help prompt more freedoms in China. Pray that God will use the faithfulness of the believers at Shouwang Church to draw others to himself.

Sierra Leone--More Muslims Converting to Christianity
Source: VOM Contacts
Psalm 22:22–24
In the past year, more Muslim leaders in Sierra Leone have converted to Christianity than ever before, according to a VOM partner. "My heart is overflowing with joy, by taking a brief reflection on what the Lord has accomplished," he said. Evangelists in the area, all of whom are converts from Islam, have received support and tools that enable them to go farther for ministry and to visit converts more often. They are using motorcycles and bicycles to reach new communities, and they are providing the communities with solar and crank radios that broadcast Christian radio programs. "Most evenings brings a group of new converts together to listen," the VOM partner said. "The result and outcome of these tools cannot be overemphasized." Praise God for these new Christian converts in Sierra Leone.
Kazakhstan--Uzbek Pastor Facing Extradition

Revelation 2:10
An Uzbek pastor who fled Uzbekistan in 2007 has been arrested in Kazakhstan and faces extradition to his home country on charges of illegally teaching religion and distributing literature. Makset Djabbarbergenov, whose wife is expecting their fifth child, was arrested after police held his sister-in-law for two weeks in an effort to discover his whereabouts. The 32-year-old pastor faces up to three years in prison on each charge. A court in Kazakhstan has ordered that Makset be detained until the General Prosecutor’s Office decides whether to extradite him to Uzbekistan. Please pray that Makset will not be turned over to Uzbek authorities. Pray that his growing family will not be fearful but will continue to trust God.

Psalm 69:33
On Sept. 11, three Laotian pastors and two other Christian leaders were arrested by district police. The three pastors were bound with chains and sent to the Phin distric prison, while the two others were turned over to provincial leaders and released two days later. The three pastors are enduring harsh conditions in prison -- all remain in handcuffs and one is in stocks, bound by the ankles. District police have visited the pastors’ homes and churches, asking members where their churches obtain funds, why they became Christians and whom the pastors have led to Christ. All three pastors remain in prison, and two are seriously ill. Pray that God will grant these pastors strength and endurance. Pray that authorities will provide them with needed medical treatment.

Afghanistan--Christians Gain Confidence and Faith
Source: VOM Sources
1 Timothy 2:8
Christians in Afghanistan are less fearful than they were a couple of years ago, and many are dedicated to witnessing and growing in their faith. "The fear that gripped the believers in 2010 is gone," wrote a VOM contact. That year, two Christian men, Said Musa and Shoaib Assadullah, were imprisoned for their faith, and a parliamentary leader called for the execution of Christians. But since then, some believers have become more open about their faith and several small groups have started meeting again. The Afghan Christians "see that God has kept them," the contact wrote. He said one group of believers has drafted a statement committing themselves to evangelism and discipleship. Today, persecution comes mainly from family and communities, rather than the government. Among the ongoing difficulties facing believers in Afghanistan are ridicule in the workplace, dismissal from jobs for being non-Muslim and the inability to find a Christian marriage partner. Thank God for his work among the Afghan people, and pray that their witness will bear much fruit.
Russia--Moscow Authorities Destroy Church Building

1 John 5:14
Unidentified workers, backed by police and civil volunteers, tore down the Holy Trinity Pentecostal Church in east Moscow in the early morning hours of Sept. 6. The workers arrived at midnight with bulldozers and diggers, looting the building of sound equipment, musical instruments, service books and Communion materials before using heavy equipment to demolish the structure. A church caretaker was taken to the police station and prevented from contacting church members for three hours. By morning, the church building was a pile of rubble. The church held a service on Sept. 8 at the site of the destroyed church, using chairs and other materials salvaged from the rubble. Authorities later threatened to punish Pastor Vasili Romanyuk for holding an "unapproved religious meeting." Pray that authorities and the church will come to an agreement about where the church can worship.

China--Missionary Couple Ordered to Leave
Source: VOM Contacts
Psalm 119:104-106
Officials from China's Public Security Bureau (PSB) asked a missionary couple to leave the country after they were caught attending a house-church service on Aug. 31. At the beginning of the meeting, several PSB officers walked to the front and announced, "We know there are some foreigners in the church tonight, and it is illegal for any foreigner to do any religious activities in the Chinese church." They ordered everyone to leave the building and detained the missionary couple, who are ethnic Chinese but hold U.S. passports. They had served in China for seven years, and officials ordered them to leave within 10 days. "They did great mission work in China teaching the Bible and training disciples," a VOM contact wrote. "They don't know what to do next." Pray for this couple as well as the church they are leaving behind.
Sri Lanka--Pastor and Wife Assaulted by Mob
Source: VOM Contacts, World Evangelical Alliance
Psalm 31:14-16
A pastor and his wife were attacked recently in Deniyaya, Sri Lanka, while returning from a church member's home. A mob of about 40 men, along with five Buddhist monks and a local government authority, approached the pastor and his wife, shouting, "Attack them ... kill them!" The pastor was assaulted and accused of spreading Christianity in the area. He and his wife were then dragged to the home of the woman they had just visited, where the mob shouted at the woman and demanded to know how much she was paid to convert to Christianity. She replied that she had become a Christian based on conviction and was not paid to do so. The pastor was beaten again, but he and his wife managed to escape. He suffered injuries to his legs and body. Pray that the pastor's attackers will find Christ, and pray for the healing and restoration of the pastor and his wife.
Jordan--Missionary Murdered in Irbid

Isaiah 61:2–4
A veteran school teacher was stabbed to death recently in Irbid, Jordan, in what police are calling a crime motivated by robbery. Police arrested a young Jordanian man in connection with the murder of 55-year-old Cheryll Harvey, of Sudan, Texas, who had taught English in Jordan for 24 years. Although authorities claim the motive was robbery, nothing was taken from the apartment where she was murdered. Cheryll founded an English-language center in Irbid 10 years ago that served 300 to 400 college students each semester. She was known as someone dedicated to her work, to her students and to living out the love of Jesus to her Jordanian friends. She is survived by two brothers. A statement from Southern Baptist officials said, "We pray her witness continues to bear much fruit." Pray for her family and her friends in Jordan as they grieve her loss, and thank God for Cheryll's life of service.

In September of 2011, members of the Canadian government put their signatures to a document called "The Ottawa Protocol to Combat Anti-Semitism." At the signing ceremony, a member of the Canadian parliament, Professor Irwin Cotler remarked, "Anti-Semitism is not only the longest known form of hatred in the history of humanity, it is the only form of hatred that is truly global."
Prime Minister Stephen Harper noted, "Those who would hate and destroy the Jewish people would ultimately hate and destroy the rest of us as well."
Prime Minister Harper's implication is clear. Those who would destroy the Jews, then destroy the rest of us as well, are evil. Or, at least, driven by evil. That's why God Himself deemed it necessary to publicly promise to curse those who curse or harm His chosen people. Conversely, He also publicly promised to bless those who bless or protect and benefit the Jews.
Now, before you dismiss these words as the ravings of a lunatic "Christian Zionist," let me remind you of something you may have overlooked or forgotten. Maybe you've never even heard this. After the believing Church has been raptured from this earth and the time of great Tribulation has fallen upon the world, Jesus Christ will return to the earth in His promised Second Coming. After saving the Jews and the world from utter destruction, He will then sit in judgment.
Did you know that the criteria He will use to judge those Gentiles who stand before Him (the Jews will be judged separately) will be how they treated His people during the time of Tribulation? Matthew 25 describes what will happen.
And you thought the cry of "anti-Semitism" was like the young shepherd boy crying "Wolf?" Not so. Anti-Semitism then and now is very important to God.
We are witnessing an explosion of anti-Semitic incidents across the world, from the Muslim enclaves of Europe to the "Occupy Wall Street" demonstrations here in America. Even the current Administration displays a disturbing attitude of anti-Semitism -- practiced by prominent officials even if not openly espoused. And Bible prophecy tells us that it will only increase as we approach the end of this Age.
Folks, if this tells us one thing for certain, it's this: How we treat the Jews and the Jewish nation is serious business.
Tune in this week and I'll discuss all of this in greater detail.

Hal Lindsey Report (09-28-2012): The Prophet?, the Unseen Movie, the Last Temptation, Feeling the Love, Spontaneous Terrorism?, What Constitution?

***********************************************************************************
Well over two weeks into the manufactured chaos that finally reveals the true nature of the "Arab Spring," the US administration is now grudgingly beginning to admit what everyone else has known all along: the attack on our consulate in Benghazi, Libya, was a terrorist act. It was not a spontaneous mob reaction to a movie promo. The President himself finally admitted as much, but it took the girls of "The View" to coax it out of him. The mainstream media was apparently incapable of doing so.
Fortunately for America, though the President didn't have time in his busy schedule to meet one on one with any other world leader at the opening of the United Nations General Assembly this week, he did have time to sit on the couch at "The View" and do a little dishing! Otherwise, how would we have known that he no longer thinks it was a mob of insulted Muslims who spontaneously converged at the consulate in Benghazi with heavy weapons, mortars, and rocket-propelled grenade launchers to wage a 12-hour gun battle that resulted in the deaths of US Ambassador Christopher Stevens and three other embassy personnel. And all because they were angry over a 13-minute movie promo that's been on YouTube for several months.
That's precisely what every government spokesperson from the President on down has been saying for two weeks. And they've been doing it with disturbingly straight faces. I'm hoping they were simply trying to stonewall the issue to cover up massive foreign policy failures, because if they really believe what they've been saying, then we're in deep trouble, folks.
But even though the President did do a little backtracking on "The View," when he got to the United Nations for his speech, he spent about five minutes apologizing for and condemning the cheesy, amateurish video promo that's being used across the Muslim world as a pretext for anti-Western violence. On the other hand, he devoted all of about 90 seconds to al-Qaeda and the jihadists who perpetrated the attack. He completely missed the opportunity for a "teachable moment" in which he could have defended free speech and explained to the gathered nations that in real democracies, we tolerate freedom of opinion and expression.
I think the most obvious lesson we can learn from the events unfolding across the Middle East is that it accomplishes nothing to apologize to or attempt to appease Islam. In spite of all the apologies and all the expressions of disgust, American flags are burning around the world.
Another danger that is quickly taking shape because of this wave of September violence, is the elevation of Islam as the only world religion that cannot be criticized. It doesn't take a rocket scientist to figure out that this is happening because governments and leaders are afraid of Muslims. And why shouldn't they be? Say the wrong thing and your embassy goes up in flames or you have to go into hiding with a fatwa hanging over you. I'm certainly thankful that Islam is, as they claim, a religion of "peace, love, and tolerance," or we'd really be in trouble!
You know, if we Christians took a page out of the Koranic playbook, the world would really be in for it. When I think about some of the truly blasphemous works of "art" that have been proudly foisted on the American public, like "The Last Temptation of Christ," Christ in a jar of urine, the elephant dung Virgin Mary, or "The Da Vinci Code," Christians could manufacture a pretty good excuse to wreak some major havoc and do some really dramatic rioting. Fortunately for the world, Christianity really is a religion of peace, love, and tolerance!
I'm guessing that by now you're getting an idea of what this week's show is about.
However, I want to warn you that what's happening across the world today is only the beginning. I'll discuss this more on future programs, but there is a massive effort underway to criminalize criticism of Islam. Not Christianity or Judaism or Hinduism or Buddhism, just Islam. And the concerted international campaign, which is part of a ten-year plan, is getting frighteningly close to realization. In fact, resolutions have been passed by United Nations agencies to this effect. And our State Department seems to be signing on to them. Folks, that will be a game-changer. Once that happens... well, you can only guess.
Look around you. See how rapidly conditions are developing precisely as predicted by the ancient prophets. It's almost over, folks. Literally, at any moment we could hear our Lord Jesus shout, "Come up here!" and we'll be gone. Don't put off accepting the gift of pardon for sin that He purchased by His death on Calvary. Accept His atoning sacrifice today and become a part of God's forever family. Trust me, you'll be eternally glad you did.

***********************************************************************************
Unless you've been vacationing on a desert island or only get your news from the mainstream media, you know that terrorists attacked the United States consulate in Benghazi, Libya on September 11. In their vicious attack, they killed Ambassador Chris Stevens, the US envoy to Libya. They also killed three other Americans who served the US mission to Libya.
Earlier that day, rioters attacked the US embassy in Cairo, Egypt. They breached the walls, tore down the American flag, and ripped it apart. They trashed the place and hoisted the flag of al-Qaeda. They screamed their hatred for the United States and Israel. Common among the chants was, "Obama, Obama, we are all Osamas."
They held high pictures of Osama bin-Laden; they waved the al-Qaeda flag; and they did it all on the eleventh anniversary of the attacks on the World Trade Center and the Pentagon.
Both US missions had been informed up to two days prior to the attacks that events were being planned. Yet neither appeared to take precautionary steps. (Unless you count a "preemptory apology" issued by the embassy in Cairo prior to the demonstrations!)
Instead, it appears the administration was caught totally flat-footed. In fact, until Thursday of this week, all administration spokespersons have insisted that all of the attacks and protests (which have now occurred in more than twenty countries) have been "spontaneous" responses to the posting of a 14-minute promotional video for an unbelievably cheesy and amateurish movie that "denigrates" Islam and its founder, Mohammed.
Never mind that the "movie trailer" has been available on the internet for several months (some reports claim it's been available for most of a year); that the movie itself has only been seen by about a dozen people; that the embassies were warned by members of the host governments and others in the intelligence community that the attacks were being planned; that the initial crowds in Cairo were shouting al-Qaeda slogans and holding pictures and flags; that al-Qaeda's leader, Ayman al-Zawahiri had called for revenge after the US killed al-Qaeda's number two man in a drone strike in June; that it was the eleventh anniversary of the September 11 attacks; that members of Sheikh Abdel Rahman's ("The Blind Sheikh" responsible for the 1993 attack on the World Trade Center) family were helping lead the demonstrations; and the list goes on.
While it is true that many of the demonstrations across the Middle East since then have focused on the movie trailer, it is almost universally acknowledged by everyone outside of the administration (especially foreign governments and intelligence sources), that the movie was, at best, a pretext for the first attacks on American embassies and properties. Attacks have also been focused on assets of nations like Great Britain, Switzerland, Germany, and Holland.
Of course, since it's only a few weeks before the general election, it's understandable that the American government doesn't want to acknowledge the complete failure and collapse of its foreign policy, especially its misguided dealings with the Muslim nations of the world.
But it's not only the current administration that's to blame. I have often said that President Bush's push to "democratize" the Muslim world was well-intentioned but naive. I believe that it is almost totally impossible for democracy to take root in a truly Islamic society. Everything in Islam's structure and teaching opposes the fundamental principles of a democratic society. So not only are those fledgling "democratic" nations doomed to failure, their hopeful citizens become nothing more than pawns or tools in the greater Islamic goal of establishing a worldwide caliphate.
I think that's what the last few days across northern Africa have been all about: the total rejection of Western ideals and principles and a declaration of the Muslims' hatred for all things western and Judeo-Christian.
From a prophetic perspective, I think it's interesting that when you look at a map depicting all the hot spots we've been hearing about the past couple of weeks, it's a pretty accurate picture of the nations that will eventually comprise the "Kings of the South" that the prophet Daniel described.
But the Obama and Bush administrations aren't alone when it comes to naive US efforts that will ultimately bring grief to America. I believe President Clinton's championing of The Oslo Accords, which were signed in 1993, have put America on the fast-track to the curses that God pronounced on those who harm the descendants of Abraham. The insistence on the suicidal land-for-peace roadmap to a "two-state solution" has accomplished nothing more than put Israel's survival at risk and, I fear, ours, too.
Jerusalem and the land of Israel is not the Arabs' nor the Jews', it is God's land and He will give it to whom He pleases. And it pleased Him to promise it by sacred covenant to the descendants of Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob. He also promised that those who tried to take the land, and those who helped them, would suffer His displeasure.
President Harry Truman recognized the new nation of Israel just 11 minutes after its birth. And from 1948 into the 1990's, America experienced prosperity and power unparalleled in history. But the last two decades have seen America become entangled in wars across the globe; mired in debt from which there will be no escape; and exhausted from culture wars that threaten her very essence. Is this decline connected to our attempt to "lift the burdensome stone" that Zechariah warned about? I believe so.
Maybe the experience of our neighbor to the north can shed some light on the question. Last week, Canada chose to stand with Israel. It closed its embassy in Tehran and kicked Iran's diplomats out of Canada. Canadian leaders cited Iran's intransigence on its nuclear weapons program and the threat it poses to Israel, as well as the danger foreign diplomats face in Iran. (Remember America's experience there?)
But this isn't the first time Canada has stood with Israel. In fact, critics say that Prime Minister Stephen Harper's support for the nation of Israel cost Canada a seat on the UN Security Council two years ago.
So is it coincidence that even though the United States is Canada's biggest trading partner, our economic woes seem to be having little impact on our neighbor? In fact, while our unemployment rate is reaching historic highs (up to 20% if we're realistic), Canada's are reaching historic lows. While each taxpayer in America owes more than $140,000 toward our national debt, Canada's taxpayer only shoulders a burden of $17,000. While the United States' economy is collapsing, Canada's is booming.
One nation is standing with Israel. One is distancing itself. Care to guess which is which?
