Pastor Zhang Rongliang, a prominent Chinese house church leader, was released on Aug. 31, 2011, after serving nearly 7 years in prison. In 2004, Rongliang was sentenced to 7 years and 6 months for "attaining a passport through cheating" and "illegal border crossing" in connection with travel to international missions conferences.
While imprisoned, Rongliang suffered from severe diabetes. He was transferred to a civilian hospital for nearly 2 months, where he was handcuffed to his hospital bed. Zhang and his family thank everyone who worked on his behalf, making phone calls and praying for him. Please pray for him, his health and his leadership in the house church movement.
