In May, scientists discovered fish with traces of radiation leaked from the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. That was the nuclear plant overwhelmed by the tsunami caused by the Great Japan Quake of 2011. But what makes this story so important is that these Pacific bluefin tuna were caught off the west coast of the United States. That's 6,000 miles away from the Fukushima plant!
Not only does this remind me that we live in a world that seems to be growing smaller, but that there are dangers lurking on this earth that were not present even a few decades ago.
Last year, Jeffrey Weiss of www.cnbc.com described Christians who ascribe Biblical or prophetic significance to events such as unrest in the Middle East or massive earthquakes and tsunamis as "Armageddon entrepreneurs."
Would Mr. Weiss say the same thing to Jesus Himself?
Jesus Christ told His followers that in the time shortly before His return to earth to snatch away His followers, we would see a discernible increase in great earthquakes. We would see a tremendous increase in religious deception against Bible truth. We would see hot wars and cold wars. We would see a dramatic increase in ethnic strife. We would see kingdoms and nations rising against other kingdoms and nations. We would witness famines and plagues multiplying around the world. And we would see all of these increase dramatically and rapidly after the rebirth of the nation of Israel.
Now, you don't have to be an "Armageddon entrepreneur" to see a pattern here. In fact, you have to be something of an "Armageddon denier" to refuse to see the significance of these events, especially in light of the fact that this list of 'signs of the end of the age' was defined by Jesus Christ Himself.
This week, I'm going to revisit portions of that "Report" from March of 2011. We'll examine extensively Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami. We'll also discuss the announcement by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that world food prices are at an all-time high and still climbing. I'll tell you why I think that's happening and where it all leads. I'll also give you some Biblical perspective on where all of this fits in the prophetic scenario.
On a personal note, thanks again to the thousands of you who responded to my recent request for brief testimonies. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is absolutely overwhelming. I thank God for all of you and for allowing me to be a part of your lives through this ministry.
