Unlike any spacesuit or body armor designed by man, this protective covering is alive, constantly repairing and renewing itself. The skin’s blood supply and facial muscles even permit us to tell on sight when people are happy, sad, angry, or embarrassed. The skin is the largest organ in our body (weighing about 10 pounds [4.5 kg] in the adult) and covers the entire surface of our body, including our eyes, where the skin covering is conveniently transparent. Being on the surface, skin is the most accessible organ of our body, and thus must be marvelously resistant.

Vietnam—Two Hmong Churches Destroyed by OfficialsSources: VOM Contacts, Compass Direct News
Vietnamese officials in Muong Cha district, Dien Bien Province, destroyed two new church buildings of ethnic minority Hmong Christians last month and threatened to tear down a third. The Ho He Church, erected in April by the unregistered Vietnam Good News Mission, was demolished on June 17. The Phan Ho Church of the registered Evangelical Church of Vietnam (North) was destroyed four days earlier on June 13, 2012. As local police, paramilitary forces and other authorities descended on the church buildings by the dozens, the Christians could only watch as the houses of worship were reduced to rubble. Both congregations have since divided into small groups and continue to worship. Thank God that they have stayed faithful during this time of persecution and ask that no other churches in the area will be torn down.

Iran’s Revolutionary Court recently upheld Pastor Farshid Fathi’s six-year sentence for “political offenses,” forcing him to complete a prison term that began more than 18 months ago. Farshid was arrested in December 2010 for his Christian work, but authorities continue to cast his activities as political offenses. He was convicted for allegedly being the chief agent of foreign organization in Iran and for administering funds for foreign organizations, a charge often used to arrest and convict Christians. Farshid has become much beloved among inmates in Tehran’s Evin prison, according to Elam Ministries. Farshid’s trial had been repeatedly postponed by judicial authorities until earlier this year. Farshid’s wife, Leila, relinquished the deed to their home to pay his bail, but even so, he was never released. Farshid and Leila have two children. Pray for Farshid’s endurance as he continues to bring light to those in Evin prison during the remainder of his sentence.

At least 17 Christians were murdered in simultaneous attacks on two churches in Garissa, Kenya on Sunday, July 1. Along with the 17 killed, more than 40 people were wounded. Masked assailants launched grenades and opened fire with assault rifles on two churches, a Roman Catholic church and an African Inland Church (AIC), which are approximately two miles apart. Television footage showed the attacks’ effects: benches knocked over, blood pooled on the floor or splattered over the walls, garments lying on the floor and Bibles strewn throughout the church buildings. The attacks occurred in Garissa, a provincial capital about 120 miles west of the Somali border. Local officials called this the worst attack since Kenya sent troops into Somalia to crush the al Shabaab militants. Christians in the area are concerned about what this means for their future.

This week, I conclude my series called, "Finding Your Gift."********************************************************************************
To quickly review: The Bible tells us that when we are born again into God's family, we all receive at least one spiritual "gift." Simply put, a spiritual "gift" is a God-given supernatural ability. We are given these "gifts" to enable us to accomplish God's calling in our lives.
As we grow closer to the end of the Age and it becomes more difficult to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the public square, it is increasingly important that we learn how to effectively exercise the individual gifts and abilities that God has bestowed upon each of us. In fact, the Apostle Peter, in 1 Peter 4, declared that as the end of all things grows near, and since each one of us has received a special gift, we are to "employ it in serving one another as good stewards of the manifold grace of God. Whoever speaks, let him speak as it were the utterances of God; whoever serves, let him do so as by the strength which God supplies; so that in all things God may be glorified through Jesus Christ...."
But the individual spiritual gifts are also extremely important to the local church and to the church at-large. It is through the operation of the gifts such as Apostle, Evangelist, Prophet, Teacher, and others, that the early church was established and grew and spread throughout the world. Those same gifts are present in the church today and still vitally important!
But don't make the mistake of thinking that only the "headline-grabbing" gifts are important. God does not value one gift above another. This week, I'll discuss the three categories of gifts: Speaking Gifts, Authentication Gifts, and Serving and Ministering Gifts. I'll also go through the 17 different gifts described in the Bible and show you how each are vital to the church today and to individual Christians, as well.
My prayer is that God will help you discover, understand, and develop your spiritual gift. Remember, there is no gift that is insignificant. We are all important to the Body of Christ.
Once again, I encourage you: Don't waste any more time thinking there's nothing you can contribute to God's kingdom. You have been specially "gifted" and empowered for these final days!

Iran—Farsi-Language Church Closed

Iranian officials recently closed one of only four churches in Tehran that still offered Farsi-language services. On June 5, the Revolutionary Guard’s intelligence branch ordered an Assemblies of God (AOG) church to cease all activities and threatened to confiscate church facilities if the church did not comply. Leaders of the church had previously received permission from authorities to use their church building in Tehran’s northwestern district of Janat-Abad to serve Assyrian-background church members. Over time, a Farsi-language service on Sundays began to attract more people. The church began to grow rapidly, which drew the attention of authorities. More than 70 people met for the service every week. Thank God for the spread of the gospel in Iran, and pray that this persecution will purify and strengthen his Church.

Kuwait’s emir has refused to pass a bill previously approved by parliament that would permit the death penalty for Muslims who insult Islam and would harshly penalize Christians and other non-Muslims who insult the religion. The bill, which sought to institute the death penalty for Muslims who insult Allah, the Quran, Muslim prophets, messengers or Muhammad’s wives, passed with an overwhelming majority vote in May. It stipulates a minimum 10-year sentence for Christians and other non-Muslims who insult Islam. Although Kuwait’s leader has the power to veto the bill, the elected parliament can overturn his decision with a two-thirds majority vote. Please pray that the Emir’s decision will win the support of parliament and that this unjust bill will be rejected.

After being wrongfully imprisoned in southern Ethiopia for two years, Christian widower Tamirat Woldegorgis returned home to find his two children, ages 6 and 15, missing. “I have been trying to locate my children, but all in vain,” Tamirat said. “My life is ruined — I have lost my house, my children, my health. I am now homeless, and I am limping.” Tamirat thinks local Muslims in his village may have taken his children to limit his influence in the area. He was falsely accused of desecrating a Quran in 2010 after a Muslim co-worker accused him of writing “Jesus is Lord” in a copy of the Quran. Tamirat spent two years confined to a small cell with 50 other inmates even though no evidence against him was ever produced. The harsh prison conditions caused paralysis in one of Tamirat’s legs. He is now staying with a friend in an undisclosed location. Please pray that Tamirat will be reunited with his children and the Lord will use these troubling circumstances as a testament of his faith. Pray that Tamirat will trust that the Lord has plans for him and his family — plans to give them hope and a future.

Pray for a widow that VOM supports. Her husband was killed after he shared his faith with Muslim family members. Now this woman is leading a small Bible study in Baghdad.

Hal Lindsey Report (7-6-12): "Armageddon Entrepreneurs"

In May, scientists discovered fish with traces of radiation leaked from the damaged Fukushima nuclear power plant in Japan. That was the nuclear plant overwhelmed by the tsunami caused by the Great Japan Quake of 2011. But what makes this story so important is that these Pacific bluefin tuna were caught off the west coast of the United States. That's 6,000 miles away from the Fukushima plant!
Not only does this remind me that we live in a world that seems to be growing smaller, but that there are dangers lurking on this earth that were not present even a few decades ago.
Last year, Jeffrey Weiss of www.cnbc.com described Christians who ascribe Biblical or prophetic significance to events such as unrest in the Middle East or massive earthquakes and tsunamis as "Armageddon entrepreneurs."
Would Mr. Weiss say the same thing to Jesus Himself?
Jesus Christ told His followers that in the time shortly before His return to earth to snatch away His followers, we would see a discernible increase in great earthquakes. We would see a tremendous increase in religious deception against Bible truth. We would see hot wars and cold wars. We would see a dramatic increase in ethnic strife. We would see kingdoms and nations rising against other kingdoms and nations. We would witness famines and plagues multiplying around the world. And we would see all of these increase dramatically and rapidly after the rebirth of the nation of Israel.
Now, you don't have to be an "Armageddon entrepreneur" to see a pattern here. In fact, you have to be something of an "Armageddon denier" to refuse to see the significance of these events, especially in light of the fact that this list of 'signs of the end of the age' was defined by Jesus Christ Himself.
This week, I'm going to revisit portions of that "Report" from March of 2011. We'll examine extensively Japan's massive earthquake and tsunami. We'll also discuss the announcement by the UN Food and Agriculture Organization (FAO) that world food prices are at an all-time high and still climbing. I'll tell you why I think that's happening and where it all leads. I'll also give you some Biblical perspective on where all of this fits in the prophetic scenario.
On a personal note, thanks again to the thousands of you who responded to my recent request for brief testimonies. Your kindness and thoughtfulness is absolutely overwhelming. I thank God for all of you and for allowing me to be a part of your lives through this ministry.

God and His Thoughts Toward You

Several people have recently asked me to teach on what I call the Law of Geographic Anointing. Simply put, this law is all about the heart of God, His extravagant affection for us and how He intends to use us on the earth. Though not clearly stated, this law can be seen in every story in Scripture.
The Law of Geographic Anointing reveals that God has a plan and a purpose for each of us. He chose the times and places we would live, and He arranged a myriad of details concerning us (Acts 17:26–28).
The moment we begin to peel back the layers of geographic anointing, we come face to face with a powerful but childlike realization: I must be important to God for Him to be so intentional about the details of my life. The more we understand His ways, His plans for us and His purposes on the earth, the more we understand the position we hold in His heart and are drawn to love Him passionately in return.

China—Police Raid Baptismal ServiceChina Aid Association
Seventeen Chinese believers were temporarily detained and questioned earlier this month after local officials and police raided a baptismal service at the Bajaihu house church in Niuchang, in western China. More than 20 Christians were celebrating a baptism on the morning of June 7, when police officers raided their service. Officials from the domestic security department held 17 of the Christians for questioning until 7 p.m. The leader of the house church, Wang Lili, was not present during the raid, but officials confiscated her purse, which contained her government ID, her keys, and more than $565. Wang asked police for her purse the next day, but they refused to return it to her. And police required the husband of one detainee to sign a guarantee that his wife would not attend the house church services again. This caused the man, who is not a Christian, to become very angry with his wife. Pray for this woman and the other house church members. Pray that Christians in China will be able to worship as openly as they wish.

Attorneys for Jewish extremist Jack Teitel have proposed a plea agreement wherein Teitel would plead guilty to amended charges that do not include reference to hate crimes, according to recent Israeli news reports. If convicted under the amended charges, Teitel could be sent to a psychiatric facility rather than prison. Teitel has been charged with—and on multiple occasions has admitted to—bombing the home of well-known Messianic pastor David Ortiz, among other crimes. Teitel’s motivation for the bombing was thought to be ridding Israel of those with beliefs different from his own. It took the courts more than two years to determine that Teitel was mentally fit to stand trial. Pastor Ortiz’s son, Ami, was severely injured in the bombing but has made a significant recovery. The Ortiz family has requested prayer for the trial proceedings, that the judge would give appropriate sentences for each of Teitel’s crimes. “We have trained ourselves not to lose hope,” wrote Pastor Ortiz’s wife, Leah. “His Word comforts, supports, guides and gives hope, and his spirit enfolds us in his love.”

The fears of Egyptian Christians were realized on Sunday when Muslim Brotherhood candidate Mohammed Morsi was declared the winner of the presidential election. “I have not slept in three days to follow the results of the election,” wrote Aasim, our VOM worker in Egypt. “He is the worst man to control the country for us as Christians.” Just hours after the polls closed, the military leadership council issued a constitutional declaration limiting the powers of Egypt’s future president. In a previous move to retain control, two weeks ago the council dissolved the parliament, which was dominated by members of the Muslim Brotherhood party. Pledging to be a president for all Egyptians, Morsi has resigned from the Muslim Brotherhood and has promised to include Christians in his government. But Christians remain wary. “We trust that God is also in control and maybe he wants to revive the church in Egypt,” said Aasim. “We are waiting for the Lord.”
Pray for those involved in a project to purchase and distribute digital media players equipped with audio Bibles, Christian movies and Christian audio books. The media players will be given to rural and tribal pastors.

This week, I'm going to continue my discussion of "Finding Your Gift."
When we are born again into God's family, the Bible tells us that we all receive at least one spiritual "gift." Simply put, a spiritual "gift" is a God-given supernatural ability. We are given these "gifts" to enable us to accomplish God's calling in our lives.
As we grow closer to the end of the Age and society makes it more difficult to share the Gospel of Jesus Christ in the public square, it will become increasingly important that we learn how to effectively exercise the individual gifts and abilities that God has bestowed upon each of us.
Did you know there's a difference between one's gift and one's ministry or that your gift will not empower you to live a holy life? That's the purpose of the "infilling of the Spirit."
Did you know that God's gifts are irrevocable, even if you're not living in fellowship with Him?
Have you ever wondered about the role of the "gift of tongues" or the "gift of interpretation" in the life of the Christian and the church?
Tune in and I think you'll learn some interesting things that will help you understand and develop your spiritual gift.
You'll even see some video of me, as a much younger man, preaching on the steps of the University of California at Berkeley! That was at a time when God used my "gift of evangelism" in a ministry of preaching and personal witnessing. Later, Jesus moved me into a ministry of writing and my "gift of evangelism" enabled me to produce books, such as The Late Great Planet Earth, Satan is Alive and Well on Planet Earth, There's a New World Coming, and others that have led many people to faith in Jesus Christ.
Don't waste any more time thinking there's nothing you can contribute to the kingdom of God. You have been specially "gifted" and empowered for these final days!
By the way, on June 20, Catholics across America began a two-week period of prayer, fasting and public action for the preservation of religious liberty in America. They're calling it "Fortnight for Freedom," and it will conclude at noon on July 4th when Catholic churches across the nation will simultaneously ring their church bells.
This extraordinary call to prayer and action by the largest religious denomination in America is a response to the unprecedented assault by the federal government against long-respected norms and traditions -- including forcing religious institutions to pay for medical services and procedures that violate their core values and redefining traditional, Biblical marriage.
Of course, we've heard nothing about this monumental and historic public gesture in the Mainstream Media. No surprise there. But in view of this week's "fundamentally transformative" decisions by the Supreme Court and other disturbing developments in the American culture wars, even if you're not Catholic, I want to encourage you to spend some time on your knees before God asking Him to have mercy on our nation and preserve our unprecedented religious freedoms.
Folks, things are getting serious. We are quickly reaching a point of no return. Not only are we on the threshold of losing the quality of life that has distinguished America from the rest of the world for decades, but we are on the verge of losing many of the sacred liberties that have made this nation the envy of the world.
Though it will help, I'm afraid it's going to take more than an election to turn our nation around. It's going to take Divine providence. We are going to have to humble ourselves before God and plead His forgiveness and grace. And this "Fortnight for Freedom" is a perfect place to begin.
One last thing. I want to thank the thousands of you who responded to my request for brief testimonies of how my ministry has affected your lives. It's tough for me to read through them without being overwhelmed, first by joy at how God has transformed your lives, then by gratitude for God allowing me to have a role in that transformation. I'm humbled by His mercy and goodness to all of us.
