what do you understand it takes for a person to get to Heaven and have eternal life?

If it is alright with you, I would like to share with you how the Bible answers this question.

There is a word that can be used to answer that question...F.A.I.T.H.

F is for Forgiveness.

Everyone has sinned and needs the forgiveness of God.

Romans 3.23 For all have sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God.

The forgiveness of God is in Jesus alone.

Ephesians 1.7 In Him (Jesus) we have redemption through His Blood, the forgiveness of sins, according to the riches of His Grace.

A is for Available.

The forgiveness of God is available for all.

John 3.16 For God so loved the world, that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish, but have Everlasting Life.

The forgiveness of God is available, but it is not automatic.

Matthew 7.21 Not everyone who says to Me Lord, Lord shall enter the Kingdom Of Heaven.

I is for Impossible.

According the Bible, it is impossible to get to Heaven on our own.

Ephesians 2.8-9 For by Grace you have been saved through faith, and that not of yourselves, it is the Gift of God, not of works, lest anyone should boast.

So, how can a sinful person receive the forgiveness of God, eternal life and Heaven?

T is for Turn

If you were going down the road and someone asked to turn, what would he/she be asking you to do? The answer is to change direction.

Turn means to repent.

Turn from sin and self.

Luke 13.3 Unless you repent you will all likewise perish. (the word perish here literally means hell)

Turn to Jesus alone as your Savior and Lord.

John 14.6 I am the Way, the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through Me.

Here is the greatest news of all.

Romans 10.9-10 If you confess with your mouth the Lord Jesus and believe in your heart that God raised Him from the dead, you will be saved. For with the heart one believes unto righteousness and with the mouth confession is made unto salvation.

So, what happens if a sinful person repents of their sins and confesses Christ?

H is for Heaven

Heaven is a place where we will live with God forever.

John 14.3 If I go away and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to myself, that wherever I am, there you will be also.

Eternal life begins now with Jesus.

John 10.10 I have come that they may have life and that they may have it more abundantly.

H can also stand for How

So, how can a sinful person receive the forgiveness of God, eternal life and Heaven?

By repenting of your sins and trusting in Jesus as your personal Savior and Lord.

Why is it that we can never...

be completely happy with our life on earth? I was just wondering about this. Why is it that there always seems to be something in the way or some difficult situation or some problem that we encounter that leads us to never be totally satisfied or fulfilled with life. Not that I was really asking myself this question, but it was something I was thinking about. Then it suddenly hit me that perhaps the reason why goes beyond the simple fact that we are not perfect and this earth is corrupt, but there is more to it than that. I came to the conclusion that perhaps the problems in our lives and the difficult situations that we always seem to encounter are also a result of the fact that God does not want us to be totally satisfied here on earth and actually we can never be satisfied with our lives here on earth for the same reason that we can never be truly happy, fulfilled and satisfied without God in our lives. Everything revolves around Him and our shortcomings and pains and sufferings here on earth really serve us a lesson that there is a much better place, a much better destiny that we are all supposed to get to, that we are all supposed to focus on, but that few people ever receive for the simple fact that they do not choose God.

Concern Over Show Called "Wretched"

I just watched a show hosted by Todd Friel called "Wretched" last night (04/04/2008) on FamilyNet. I was honestly upset with some of the things said on the show. I had previously never heard of the show and I don't know hardly anything about Todd Friel, but I was interested. I watched and I found the show to be un-Biblical at least on three accounts. I didn't even watch the rest of the show because it's so bad. I think that I am going to try and watch another episode to see if it's still bad or it was only that episode. But, I decided to write something to you anyway because just one episode like that is bad enough. Someone like myself who is a Christian and knows the Bible can catch false teaching in its tracks much more easily than a lost person or a newfound Christian. I am seriously concerned about the random lost person or new Christian that can be easily deceived by the false teachings and questionable sarcasm of Todd Friel on this programme. Half the time I didn't know whether Todd Friel was being sarcastic or not, but the fact that he never made it clear by telling the viewer what he really thinks about something proves that he either actually believes in what he was saying which is both upsetting and sad OR that he's not thinking straight. Please pray what God's Will is in this and pray for Todd Friel. Keep people away from this show or if you do decide to watch it, then teach those that might not know better why he is teaching falsely. Thank You and God Bless You In Jesus Name. Amen.

C.A.T.S. (Christian Artist Talent Search)

I am concerned about a TV show called Christian Artist Talent Search (C.A.T.S. for short). Last week I watched part of an episode and I was honestly appalled by what is going on in the show. I tried to give the show the benefit of the doubt, but the longer I watched the more disgusted I became. The reason why is because I don't believe that anyone who wants to sing praises to God and bring glory to Him through music does not sing beautifully. I don't care what their voice sounds like - it's beautiful. Watching the judges was upsetting for me because I would see their reactions to the contestants and I felt like this is something like "American idol" (which I don't watch, but I've seen clips of the show and I have heard a lot about it). I don't know the premise of the show in the sense of whether or not it's an audition for a show or for an individual recording contract or what. I can understand that if this is an audition and there is intended to be only one that wins the "prize" then there has to be elimination of everyone else until they get the final contestant that they think is most talented. I kept that in mind as I watched the programme, but I was still upset by the judges and the way they behaved on the show. The way it was filmed came off to me like it's some kind of sinful parody show. I could have been watching an episode of "Saturday Night Live" or "MAD TV," but this is supposed to be a Christian programme? You might not think there's something wrong with this picture, but I do. What's even sadder is that I'm not actually surprised that a Christian network would air this or that Christians would produce this because it's so easy to sin and give into doing stupid and tasteless things.

WHY IS ISRAEL DIVIDING THE LAND – AGAIN?

"In June of 1967, the Israeli air force pre-empted an air assault against the Egyptian air force, thus beginning the famous 6 Day War. Nassar, the President of Egypt had previously engaged Israel in a war in 1956. For several weeks Israeli intelligence observed Russian made military weaponry and equipment being positioned near the Egyptian border and Nassar was announcing he would soon, “push the Jews into the ocean.” Despite global criticism, Israel struck at the heart of the Egyptian air force, crippling hundreds of Egyptian air craft, rendering their air power helpless. At that moment the surrounding borders began to change.

Nasser drew the Jordanians into the conflict by threatening to assassinate the King of Jordan, if he refused to participate. The Jordanians had the most to lose. They controlled all of the West Bank and all of East Jerusalem. As Jordan reluctantly entered the violent conflict, the Syrians began a thrust toward Tiberias, using the latest Russian tanks. Imagine the surprise when 6 days later, Egypt, Jordan and Syria were defeated and a cease fire was called. The Arabs demanded the United States force Israel to stop the war. The Israeli military was pushing across the Negev desert toward Cairo and were also headed toward Damascus, the capitol of Syria.

After the 6 Day War Israel annexed the Negev desert, the West Bank and East Jerusalem and the Golan Heights into their territory. Immediately the surrounding nations began to demand Israel give back the land they had seized “illegally.” (I wonder if they would have given back land if the war had gone the other way.)

Former President Jimmy Carter pressured Israeli Prime Minister Began to give back the Negev Desert to Egypt in a peace agreement with Egyptian President Anwar Sadat. The agreement would later cost Sadat his life in an ambush by Islamic fanatics during a special military parade. I was informed that Israel attempted to give the Gaza Strip to Egypt along with over 1 million Palestinian refugees, but Egypt refused to take them. They wanted this camp to be a burden to the Israeli government.

From that moment forward there has been intense pressure on Israel to give the West Bank (ancient Judea and Samaria) and Arab East Jerusalem back to the Jordanians and allow a Palestinian state to be formed along side of Israel.

The strange and often overlooked challenge is more than Israel’s security and the fact that millions of Israel’s enemies could pour into the newly formed state as a plot against the total annihilation of the Jewish state. The unseen problem is this:

Gaza with over 1 million Palestinian refugees is located to the extreme south in Israel near the border of Egypt. The West Bank is about a 2 hour drive from Gaza, separated by hundreds of miles of land that is presently Israel. Syria is demanding back the Golan Heights and some Palestinians believe they also have the right to this territory. Thus, instead of having one state, you end up with two and possibly three states surrounding Israel. The challenge has been, how can Israel connect the Gaza fanatics to the more moderate Arabs in the West Bank area? The fanatics are seizing more power in these areas and they all agree on the destruction of Israel.

Let’s put the shoe on the other foot. If the government of Mexico suddenly called for the overthrow of the U.S. government and the use of terrorist, detonating bombs on buses in the markets and in schools, and we were to see Mexican terrorists striking in America, how long would it take for the U.S. government and the American people to rise up and demand a stop to illegal immigration and force a wall to be constructed at the U.S. border for the security of America?

Yet, the United States under the leadership of Condi Rice is demanding Israel to withdraw military forces and move the Jewish settlers out of the Gaza (which has already occurred) and the West Bank (which is occurring now). She and certain key government people do this knowing the threat against Israel.

Israel is certainly in a terrible bind. If they do not give up the land the continual threat of internal terrorism against the Jewish people is upon them. If they do, then there is a threat of terrorist coming from Gaza and Lebanon and moving closer to the Jewish settlements.

What is unique is the prophet Ezekiel describes much of what is occurring in Ezekiel 35 and 36. Chapter 35 beings as a prophecy against Mount Seir in Jordan which is the actual origin of the Palestinian people.

God said they have a perpetual hatred against Israel even in the time when their calamity (captivity) had ended (Ez. 35:5). They declare that, “These two nations and these two countries shall be mine” (35:10). I believe this alludes to a Palestinian state along side of Israel. They say that the mountains of Israel are given to them. This alludes to Ancient Judea and Samaria known today as the West Bank (Ez. 35:12; 36:2). God warns Israel they will be persuaded by the “lips of talkers” (36:3). God then reveals that for his name sake He will defend and bless the mountains of Israel for Israel’s sake (36:20-23).

I believe that this conflict of dividing the land will be one of several triggers to create the circumstances for the Gog and Magog battle, recorded in Ezekiel 38 and 39. That battle will unfold on the mountains of Israel, specifically the Bashan (Golan Heights) and the Valley of the Passengers, which in Hebrew is the area of Jordan across from Jericho (Ezekiel 39:11; 39:18).

I have both Jewish and Palestinian friends (some Christians and some Muslim) who get along with one another and have for many years. The conflict however, places pressure on Jews to despise the Arabs and Arabs to despise the Jews. In most moderate Islamic nations they confess they like the America people but do not like America’s policies. When asked what policy, they always reply, “America’s unconditional support of Israel.”

Israel is again forced to divide the land for the sake of security (peace) (ed. which wouldn't happen no matter how much land Israel gives over). As Christians we must love both sides – the Jews and Arabs and reveal to them the greatest hope for their future, Jesus Christ. After all, according to the Scripture only the return of the Prince of Peace can and will settle this family feud that began at the time of Isaac and Ishmael."

chester stiles arrested for child rape

I am very saddened and concerned over the situation. Of course, I feel sorry for the little girl that was raped and I have prayed for she and her family, and anyone that cares for her. I was very young at the time, but I might have been in a situation in which I was molested. There was also another molestation attempt on me when I was a little older at seven or eight years old. Fortunately, I was able to get away, but I felt bad afterwards, as if I had done something wrong. Anyway, I've put that behind me and have been able to move on from it. At least the little girl probably won't remember much of anything if anything at all about the incident once she gets a little older, since she is so very young. I don't know very much about this incident, except for some brief news bits. I do believe that, if all of these charges against Chester Stiles are true, then he should definitely be kept away from the public, especially children, and be sentenced accordingly. However, at the same time, I feel sorry for him. I know reading this might outrage some people. But, that's how I feel. I have no idea what kind of childhood he had and what has happened in his life. For all I know, he might have been molested growing up and that can have very damaging and perverse effects in people as they grow up. Some things are backwards for some of them and they might end up doing some terrible things, like rape and murder, and most importantly - deny God. I do not feel hatred for him, except for what wrong he's done in his life. Rather, I love him and I forgive him of his sins. Not very many people would be willing to feel that in their hearts for him. I know it would be a lot harder for me to feel and say that if what he did to that little girl was done to me or someone very close to me. But, it's right for me to feel love for him because that's what my God does. None of us are perfect. To want him to be condemned would be to want the same for myself. I know that God loves him still, as he loves everyone, and he would rather him turn from his sins to save his life rather than to have to destroy him. So, I prayed for Chester Stiles and that's the best thing that I can do for him. Apart from the understandable prison time, Chester Stiles needs people to love, forgive and help him. He needs salvation. That's what God does for us and that's what I would want for me if I was in his position.
