Billy Graham answers your questions about heaven.

Then I saw "a new heaven and a new earth," for the first heaven and the first earth had passed away, and there was no longer any sea. -Revelation 21:1 (NIV)

Billy Graham, one of Christianity's most beloved evangelists, lends his reassuring expertise and a compassionate heart while answering questions about our future and final home. The biblically based Q&A format makes it easy to pinpoint the questions that matter to you most.

With enduring truth and an extensive knowledge of Scripture, Graham answers over 100 thought-provoking questions about heaven. Questions like:

• Where is heaven?
• How do we know there is life after death?
• What do you say to someone who doesn't believe in heaven?
• Does God let some people have a glimpse of heaven before they die?

And many more...

"My Big Bottom Blessing: How Hating My Body Led to Loving My Life" Chapter 1, by Teasi Cannon

Audio read by Pam Ward: http://www.oasisaudio.com/product.php?prod=9781613751626
Book: http://www.christianbook.com/bottom-blessing-hating-body-loving-life/teasi-cannon/9781617950766/pd/950766

Loving the girl in the mirror isn't about changing how you look, but allowing God to change how you see.

Teasi Cannon's lifelong battle with body image nearly destroyed her. Yet today she feels blessed—not because the size of her lower half has changed but because her perspective has. In her often hilarious, no-nonsense style, Teasi's gut-honest journey and transparent insights will propel everyone one of us who struggles with...you name it: bad hair or chubby cheeks, skinny arms or wide hips... to realize our value and beauty. Even if nothing ever changes on the outside.

"If you've ever wrestled with self-image issues or doubted that God is with you in your most painful moments, you need this book. Teasi Cannon is the real deal." —Pete Wilson, pastor and author

"Regardless of what you weigh or the crazy diets you may have tried, My Big Bottom Blessing will set you free from the numbers game to embrace God's beautiful best for your life!" —Constance Rhodes, founder and CEO of FINDINGbalance

"Teasi Cannon is essentially a truth-and-grace bomb just looking for a place to detonate—especially for girls who never quite feel like they measure up." —Lisa Harper, author and Women of Faith speaker

"Snappy, authentic and powerfully written, Teasi has finally given real women something BIG to cheer about." —Allison Allen, Broadway actress

Christians Tried on Easter

(Blog Disclaimer: Information not my own. Re-posted here for informative purposes only).

by  Jordan Sekulow
ACLJ Executive Director

Christians face a growing epidemic of persecution around the world.

You know about our continuing fight for Pastor Youcef Nadarkhani in Iran, but unfortunately, he is the face of a growing number of Christians persecuted in Iran and worldwide.

On Easter in Iran, another pastor and eleven members of his congregation were tried for their Christian faith. They were tried on Easter Sunday in the same provincial court as Pastor Nadarkhani, where the death penalty is available under Shariah law.

Please read my article, "Christians Tried on Easter in Iran for Their Faith," for more details.
Share your support for these persecuted Christians by sharing their story on Facebook, Twitter, and email.

We are also continuing our fight against abortion and those who would "celebrate" it. Please read "Planned Parenthood 'Celebrate' Abortion" where we dissect the nation's largest abortion provider's outrageous prayers for more abortion.

Thank you for standing with the ACLJ as we defend life and liberty here at home and abroad.

Update on Our Current Crisis
May 2, 2012, 3:45 pm UTC

Thank you to everyone who responded to last week's newsletter describing our current financial crisis.

Three of the first responses came from the United Kingdom, and we also heard from four people in Australia and another in New Zealand.

It's humbling to think there are people we've never met who care so much about this ministry.

Your prayers and donations are helping us greatly. We still have a ways to go, but last week's response made a significant dent.

If you'd like to help in our current financial crisis, you can do so online at:

If you prefer to mail a check or money order, please make it out to "ApologetiX" and send it to:

J. Jackson, lead singer and lyricist for ApologetiX here.

A friend in Christian radio tells me he's done more than 100 fund drives in his career. I feel like I've done that many in the past year.

Seems like every time we turn around there's some new crisis. I'm sure it's gotten old for you, too. As Proverbs 19:17 says:

"A poor man is shunned by all his relatives--how much more do his friends avoid him! Though he pursues them with pleading, they are nowhere to be found."

We're not to that point yet but we may soon be. Trouble is, if we don't speak up, ApologetiX may be nowhere to be found.

So I have a responsibility to the seven families and 21 kids this band supports to make our needs known to God and you.

Please read the update below and keep us in prayer.

Why We're in Such a Crisis
April 25, 2012, 1:27 am UTC

Our new bus still isn't ready, so we had to rent a van again for this weekend. We've spent almost $15,000 in rentals since last fall.

Since our rash of vehicle problems started last year, it's cost us an additional $20,000-plus in repairs to our old and new buses.

We probably lost another $25,000 in ticket/CD sales from concerts cancelled by vehicle problems last year.

Add in the price of the new bus itself, and you have over $65,000 in expenses over and above our normal operating costs.

Many fans point out that if each fan-club member just gave a dollar, that would be $65,000. Unfortunately, that's not the way it works.

About 8% of fans read any newsletter. If we ask for help, one out of every 400 fans may respond. If each of them gives a dollar, that's $162.50.

Thankfully, those who do give, give generously, according to their means. We rejoice at any gift received, no matter what the amount.

This is not meant to be a guilt trip. We don't feel that any fan owes us anything. We're just explaining why we're currently in such a crisis.

Michael Farris presents: Constitutional Literacy - The Complete 25-Part Series

The Constitution was not written in the name of our leaders, but by the authority of "We The People." It was expected that the people would enforce leaders' duty to preserve, protect, and defend the constitution.

If our government no longer faithfully adheres to the Constitution, ultimately the problem is that we are not doing our part as enlightened citizens; and when we find that the government's current actions are out of step with the Constitution, it is our duty as citizens to act.

Watch the trailer.

Most basically, we have the duty to throw out all elected officials who abuse the Constitution and to replace them with new officials who will faithfully preserve, protect, and defend the Constitution.

For years, Americans have remained silent as our government encroaches on our freedoms. Join Michael Farris, founder and chancellor of Patrick Henry College and Chairman of the Home School Legal Defense Association as he delves into the history of our nation's most important document and provides the training to turn America back towards a proper understanding of American Liberty.

The Presence-Driven Life

April 2012 by John Paul Jackson

When we are filled with God’s presence, people who don’t know Him go out of their way to find out what is different about us. They see hope for change in us, and they want to know how this is possible and how it works. “What is this that you have, and can I have it, too?” The presence of God is a huge attractant. People are not attracted to us because of who we are; their responses are not necessarily based on the good decisions we have made or the great men and women of God who have taught us. They simply pick up on God’s presence within us.

Radiating His Light God’s presence is like a magnet. My greatest joy doesn’t come when I stand behind a pulpit and speak at a church or conference. My greatest joy comes when I walk through a busy mall or airport, and someone who does not know me comes up to me and says, “Would you pray for me?” Or, “Can I talk to you about something? I know I need to talk to you.” That tells me God is with me to an extent that people who do not know Him can recognize Him in me. I ask the Lord to help me radiate His light so that people will see His light in me and His presence in me will attract them to Him. In everything I do and say, I try to propel people into a place where the world sees them and experiences this sense of, There is something about this person that I need. Those seekers then discover that they are seeing God manifested in His family.

CLICK HERE for a related teaching on "sharing your light."

The Visibility of God
We serve an unlimited God, an infinite God, which means that no matter where we are in this journey with Him, there is so much more of Him left to discover. His greatness knows no boundary. If our coming to God included nothing beyond the salvation of our souls, that would be enough. Salvation is wonderful, and nothing beats everlasting life! However, much more exists in God than what the Church as a whole is walking in right now. In Romans 5:10, Paul writes: For if when we were enemies we were reconciled to God through the death of His Son, much more, having been reconciled, we shall be saved by His life. In essence, Paul is saying, “With the presence of God in you, you can live a life that is so much greater than the life you are currently living.” Salvation is radical in and of itself, but it is just the beginning of the Christian life. As we pick up the cross and follow Him, seek after His righteousness and experience the various principles of Jesus’ life, our own lives become so much better — and God becomes more and more visible within us. If we think that salvation is “it,” we still get to Heaven, but the impact and quality of our lives on earth are so different than what they could have been. We are called to be salt and light on this earth — to be recognizably different. People should be able to look at us and see the signature of God written across our foreheads.

 Seek His Righteousness
How can we begin to access God’s light the way Moses accessed His light (Exodus 34:29)? It takes seeking His righteousness — not just His Kingdom (His power) but His righteousness as well (Matthew 6:33). It is not flippant Christianity; it is purposeful, presence-driven Christianity. It is His life in us changing us to such a degree that we emanate who He is because He holds every cell in our bodies together. He is the glue. As we seek His righteousness, we learn how to respond to people. We learn how to walk in authority and power. We learn when to say things and when not to say things. We learn when to encourage. We learn when God is rescuing someone and when God is not rescuing someone because He is trying to get that person’s attention. We learn the difference between God creating a crisis and man creating a crisis. We learn all those things and many more; they are called the ways of God. There is so much more to this Christian life than what we currently experience — so much more. That will always be the case. So I urge you to seek more of the Lord’s presence. Let His righteousness define you and seep into your bones. He wants to do something on this earth, and you are one of the people He has chosen for the task. As He fills you more and more, you can expect the unbelievers around you to recognize His presence within you and say, “This is what I have been searching for.”

"Dear Gary" Questions & Answers

By Dr. Gary Chapman
Author of the 5 Love Languages

     DEAR GARY...

We are to the point of divorce. Can you help?

Question:
My husband and I are at the point of divorce. Though he has agreed to look at some of your materials with me. Can you give us a starting point?

Answer: I would suggest you start with my book  The 5 Love Languages. Ask him if he would be willing to read the first chapter this week if you read the first chapter. And at the end of the week, you will share one thing you learned and he will share one thing he learned. It's a good way to get started. Then, if he feels good about it and you feel good about it, take chapter two the next week. Work your way through the book one chapter per week.

By the end of the book, I think you both will have rediscovered how to love each other, and how to stimulate warm feelings toward each other. Chances are he'll be willing to share another book with you. Sharing a book is one way to stimulate marital growth.

How do we prepare for spending time apart?

Question:
My wife and I are both active duty Marines, and we spend a lot off time away from each other. How do we start talking when we know one of us will be leaving soon?

Answer: I think one of the ways you prepare yourself for the separation is to talk with each other about some of the things that you really enjoyed during the time you were together. And then to ask the other person: What are some things I can do while you're away that would be helpful to you to have done while I'm gone?

I think another factor is to say to them, "how can we stay in touch while we're away?" And the good news is, for example, the love languages can be spoken long distance by emails or phone calls or letters. But talking about that before you go can set the stage for your actually speaking love long distance.

What if I speak one love language and receive a different one?

Question:
Is it possible to speak one love language but want to receive a different one?

Answer: Absolutely; About 75% of us speak what we want to receive, but about 25% speak one language predominantly but prefer a different language-probably because we learn to speak that language when we're children. So it's okay, you're not abnormal. For 75% of us what we're speaking is what we want but for the others, they're speaking one language and desiring another.

The important thing is that you learn to speak your spouse's primary language, or in your case your boyfriend's language, and he learns how to speak your language. When you do that, you keep love alive-even when you come down off the high of the in-love experience.

Persecuted Prisoner Alert Update: Asia Bibi

Arrested: June 2009

02/03/2012 Update

Asia Bibi, a 37-year-old Pakistani woman from the village of Ittanwali, was arrested by police on Friday, June 19, 2009. Asia (also called Asia Noreen) is the wife of 50-year-old Ashiq Masih, and their family is one of only three Christian families in a village of 1,500 families.

Many of the local women, including Asia, work on the farm of Muslim landowner Muhammad Idrees. During their work, many of the Muslim women have pressured Asia to renounce Christianity and accept Islam. In June, the pressure became especially strong.

On Friday, June 19, there was an intense discussion among the women about their faith. The Muslim women told Asia about Islam. Asia responded by telling them about her faith in Christ. Asia told the Muslim women Christ had died on the cross for sins, then asked them what Mohammad had done for them, according to VOM sources. She told them Jesus is alive, but Mohammad is dead. “Our Christ is the true prophet of God,” she reportedly told them, “and yours is not true.”

Upon hearing this, the Muslim women became angry and began to beat Asia. Then some men took her and locked her in a room. They announced from the mosque loudspeakers that she would be punished by having her face blackened and being paraded through the village on a donkey. Local Christians informed the police, who took Asia into custody before the Muslims could carry out their plan. She was held at the police station in Nankana city. Christians there urged the police not to file blasphemy charges, but police claimed they were under pressure from local Muslim leaders.

Seventeen months after Asia’s arrest, she was convicted of violating subsection C of Pakistan’s 295 blasphemy law - blasphemy against the prophet Muhammad - and was sentenced to death. No Christian in Pakistan has ever been executed under the blasphemy law, but in several cases, extremists have murdered Christians after their release from prison. Asia’s conviction and death sentence have brought international attention to the country’s blasphemy laws. Christians have called for Asia’s release and for a repeal of the laws, while extremists in Pakistan continue to demand that she be executed.

The Voice of the Martyrs urges Christians around the world to pray for Asia Bibi and her family.

Monthly Visit With Family March 2012
Imprisoned Christian Asia Bibi was visited by her husband, Ashiq, on March 6, 2012. When Asia inquired after her two young daughters, Ashiq told her that the children were healthy and doing well in school. She told him she was feeling discouraged about ever being released.

He said, "Yesterday when we had family prayer, I asked the children what they were praying for. They said, 'We are praying for those people who are helping us and who are trying to release our Mama.'

At that moment, Ashiq "felt God's presence, and he said to me, 'Don't be afraid, I am with you.'"

VOM Visits Asia in January 2012
Asia’s husband and a VOM worker had the opportunity to visit Asia in late January, and they brought back a positive report. Asia had a “smiley face, full of joy and thanksgiving,” said our worker.

Asia told them, “I am very thankful for this visit. I am happy and fine.

“I am praying every day. I am strong in my faith. I know that this is the test of my faith and I know to make gold, it must be purified … in the fire. I am strong in my faith, and I know that God will release me. I pray that God forgives the people who blamed me.”

Did God Use Evolution?

Dr. Werner Gitt addresses this topic in his introduction to the book Did God Use Evolution? Regarding today’s question, Dr. Gitt says the following: Use of the term “the theory of evolution” is intentionally avoided, because, according to the standards of scientific theory, evolution is a philosophical doctrine and not a scientific theory. For the same reason, we do not refer to creation theory, but to the Biblical doctrine of creation. Creation research concerns itself with deducing models from physical reality, which are based on fundamental Biblical statements.

Take Action: Atheists demand crosses be removed from Marine Corps base

Urge Gen. Vincent Coglianese to dismiss the complaints and honor fallen Marines by allowing the crosses to remain
April 20, 2012

Dear Friend,According to Fox News, the Military Association of Atheists and Freethinkers (MAAF) and Americans United for Separation of Church and State are threatening to sue the United States Marine Corps if it refuses to remove two memorial crosses at California's Camp Pendleton Marine Corps Base.

Planted atop a remote hill called Mount Horno rest two 13-foot crosses. Erected in 2003 by seven Marines, the site was established for reflection by people grieving over lives lost in the war on terror.
For almost 10 years, the crosses have stood on the hill without complaint, until MAAF and AU filed a complaint, arguing the site violated the Constitutional mandate of separation of church and state. They want the crosses moved to a church on private land and flags or some other symbol used instead to mark the site.
The Commandant of Camp Pendleton, Brig. Gen. Vincent A. Coglianese, USMC, has authority over whether the two memorial crosses erected atop Mount Horno can remain in place.

TAKE ACTION
Send an email of support to Gen. Coglianese, urging him to dismiss the complaints and honor fallen Marines by allowing the crosses to remain.
Ask him to remain faithful to the memory of those who gave their lives for our country, and to honor the wives and children who still visit the crosses honoring their husbands and fathers.
Note: The Thomas More Law Center is prepared to defend the USMC, should the atheist groups decide to sue. Please pray Gen. Coglianese will make the right decision and keep the crosses in place.

Take Action NowSend an email of support to Gen. Coglianese, urging him to dismiss the complaints and honor fallen Marines by allowing the crosses to remain.

It is very important that you forward this alert to your friends and family members.

Persected Prisoner Alert Update: Imran Ghafur

Singing Songs at Midnight
In March 2012, Imran Ghafur's family told us how Imran spends his time in prison. At midnight, Imran prays and sings spiritual songs. Sometimes Muslim prisoners join him and ask him to pray for them. Imran also spends a lot of time in prayer and Bible reading. He is anxious to be released so he can "do missionary work for Jesus."

Please pray for his family, who seemed to be feeling particularly low last month.

Thank You for Your Prayers
On Thursday, May 26, 2011, Imran’s brother, Naveed, visited Imran in jail. Naveed told Imran many people were praying for him and he asked Imran what message he wanted to give VOM and other prayer partners.

Imran had tears of joy in his eyes. He said, “I am thankful to Lord for this help. I wish that I could personally meet and thank you, but I am in jail. I cannot do that, but I promise, the day I come out of this prison, surely I will thank you for this love and prayers.”

Imran said he is using his time in prison to study God's Word. "I am happy the Lord wants to use me for his Kingdom."

Backstory:

Location: Pakistan
Arrested: July 2009

06/16/2011 Update

On Jan. 11, 2010, Imran Ghafur Masih was sentenced to life in prison and fined 100,000 rupees ($1,155 U.S.), according to The Voice of the Martyrs contacts. His family has appealed the decision to the Pakistan High Court and is awaiting a hearing date.

On July 1, 2009, Pakistani police arrested Imran Ghafur in Punjab province after Muslims accused him of burning pages of the Quran. While cleaning his brother’s retail shop, Imran removed the trash he had collected, intending to burn some of it. While burning the trash, pages of an Islamic book flew into the fire and burned. Imran’s neighbor, Haji Liaqat, saw the burned pages of the Islamic book and alerted other Muslims in the area. “Haji Liaqat saw the burned pages, and he aggressively told all resident people and travelers that Imran burnt the pages of a Quran also,” a VOM contact said. “He was telling everybody that Imran Ghafur is burning the Quran … he should be killed.”

Imran and his father were severely beaten before police arrested Imran. Following the arrest, news of the incident spread throughout the city, and angry Muslims threw stones at the police station where Imran was being held. “Give the death sentence to him who disgraces the Holy Quran, and hang him who disgraces the Holy Quran,” the Muslims said. “Christians are dogs; Imran is a dog,” they shouted.

On July 2, 2009, Imran was moved to a jail. “The situation is very tense in Hajwari town, where the Christian families live,” the VOM contact said. “Haji Liaqat and his friends are saying that they will not allow Imran’s family to live in the colony or run their business.”

Imran and his family have been managing businesses in the area and are actively involved with other Christians in the area.

New Film Tugs on Heartstrings, Encourages Devotion to Christ

(Blog Disclaimer: Information and links sent through newsletter via One Million Moms, an affiliate of American Family Association. All information and links from OMM. I do not own anything. Re-posted here only for educational purposes.)

Paper Dream is the first dramatic film produced by American Family Studios, a new division of AFA.

Paper Dream is a short feature film that explores the life of a Christian couple facing an unexpected and troubling challenge. They adore being an aunt and uncle and have always wanted to have children of their own. Not only did they dream of children, but expected that they would be able to become parents one day. But infertility threatens that dream.

This film is for families going through the challenge of infertility, but there is also an underlying message that is even broader. Is God's purpose for your life completely different than what you have planned? We have hopes and desires, but run into problems when we feel we are entitled to those dreams. When life doesn't go as expected, don't get mad at God, but instead embrace the truth that He knows what is best for you! Every circumstance can be used for God's glory. We can question God's goodness or draw closer to God instead.
This movie meant a lot to me personally. I myself am a planner, even for the unexpected. I think of a plan B before I even need it. Just in case! I try to stay as organized as possible. When juggling the responsibilities of life, especially as a mom, being organized and flexible makes everything go more smoothly.
However, not everything in life goes as scheduled. The older I get the more I realize that God's plan is not always my plan. Whether He is teaching, testing, or protecting, His plan is better than ours. We may not always understand certain circumstances, but being satisfied and content and ultimately fulfilled in what God has planned for our lives is crucial for a Christian. As moms, let's be prepared for our duties, but also have an open heart and mind to the blessings He has for us since He can see the big picture.

Christy had a dream...
For as long as she can remember, Christy Davis has wanted to be a mom, but things haven't worked out the way she imagined them. When hopes of getting pregnant fall through, she and her husband Matt turn to adoption, but will that be enough to fill their longing for a child?
American Family Studios is proud to present a story of hope in the midst of difficult circumstances. Do unfulfilled dreams define who we are, or is God enough to give us fulfillment?

Runtime: Approximately 40 minutes

REQUESTS:

• The networks officially announce their 2012-13 Primetime schedules the week of May 14." Let’s pray for the Network Executives to make wise choices this month as they make their final decisions on what shows to pick up.  And let’s pray for the Agents, who are already madly hustling to get their writers and producers hired on some of the 80 Fall season series that they know will be returning. This year we’re excited to know some great Christians who are TV writers and Show Runners being considered for some of these network and cable shows.  Let’s pray that our community is well represented on this Fall’s TV shows’ writing staffs and that Lord will use these professionals to make an eternal difference, both in the lives of the people they work with, and through the scripts they write that millions of people will be watching.   To learn what a Show Runner is, click HERE.

We want to remember our dear friend Jack Gilbert, a writer, teacher, visionary and Christ-like man, who passed away at the end of March.  He was 62 and had an unbelievable impact on our community and our world over the past 30+ years while working in Hollywood.  May we pray for his family members and friends who miss him so much and ask the Lord to keep using Jack’s memory to impact professionals all over Hollywood.  And we praise Him that Jack is truly home!  For more info, click HERE

• Walt Disney Studios has had a rocky year, with lay-offs and a tremendous cut in the number of feature films in production. Let’s pray for Bob Iger - President & Chief Executive Officer of The Walt Disney Company.  May he discover the unconditional love of Jesus in his life and work. (https://secure.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/en/wiki/Robert_Iger)  For a list of Disney’s upcoming theatrical releases click HERE.

Please pray for the young people who watch so much TV, play so many video games, spend so much time on facebook and listen to a tremendous amount of music.  And let’s encourage our young people to pray for the people in their media world. The best way for them to pray is to download our KIDS and/or TEENS Prayer calendars each month HERE.

VOM-USA Prayer Update for April 27, 2012
The Voice of the Martyrs USA: www.persecution.com

But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. Matthew 5:44–45

China—Government Launches New Campaign to Eradicate House Churches

Isaiah 35:3–4
Strengthen the weak hands,
And make firm the feeble knees.
Say to those who are fearful-hearted,
“Be strong, do not fear!
Behold, your God will come with vengeance,
With the recompense of God;
He will come and save you.”
A secret document obtained by China Aid Association (CAA) details the Chinese government’s plan to eradicate house churches within 10 years. The State Administration for Religious Affairs (SARA) issued the document in cooperation with the ministries of Public Security and Civil Affairs. According to CAA, phase one of the strategy involves a thorough investigation of house churches from January to June 2012. Phase two concentrates on “cleaning up” the house churches that have been investigated within two to three years, and phase three aims to eradicate the house churches within 10 years. Strategies for accomplishing these goals include incorporating house churches into government-sanctioned Three-Self churches; banning the words “house church” from all websites, media and documents; and implementing humane law enforcement measures. CAA reports that persecution and suppression of house churches has risen by 20 percent this year. A house church pastor from Hangzhou, Zhejiang province, said, “The situation this year is especially tense.” Pray for China’s house churches as they proclaim the truth of the gospel. Pray that the Lord will strengthen them in the midst of persecution.

India—First Murder Conviction Related to 2008 Orissa Massacre
Source: Christian Solidarity Worldwide
Psalm 6:8–10
Depart from me, all you workers of iniquity;
For the Lord has heard the voice of my weeping.
The Lord has heard my supplication;
The Lord will receive my prayer.
Let all my enemies be ashamed and greatly troubled;
Let them turn back and be ashamed suddenly.
Kartik Paramenika, a leader of the 2008 massacre in Orissa, India, has been sentenced to life in prison for the murder of Ramesh Digal. Paramenika’s murder conviction in March was the first conviction related to the widespread mob violence against Christians in Kandhamal, Orissa, in August and September 2008. Kartik led a mob to Petapanga village in 2008, where he killed Ramesh and burned his home. Ramesh worked as a cook in the school where Kartik served as headmaster. In addition to the life sentence, Kartik was also sentenced to five years for arson and was fined 5,000 rupees. Convictions are sometimes difficult to obtain in India because witnesses are often threatened and harassed. John Dayal, a member of the government of India’s National Integration Council, said, “Justice remains the critical issue in Kandhamal, where a combination of circumstances, including lacunae [missing information] in investigations and coercion of witnesses, has resulted in a long series of acquittals. This conviction will help begin to rebuild faith in the judicial system. We must also congratulate the public prosecutor for securing this major success.”

Bangladesh
VOM Project
Pray for Christian converts in a discipleship program. They are taught to sew as a means of supporting themselves. The worst persecution for Christian converts often begins after they are baptized because baptism is seen as a formal declaration of faith. Many converts are disinherited, forced to leave their parents’ homes and even expelled from their villages.

VOM-USA Prayer Update for April 20, 2012
The Voice of the Martyrs USA: www.persecution.com

“Let not your heart be troubled; you believe in God, believe also in Me. In My Father’s house are many mansions; if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again and receive you to Myself; that where I am, there you may be also. And where I go you know, and the way you know.” John 14:1–4

Nigeria—Fulani Herdsmen Raze Christian Villages in Central Nigeria Source: VOM Contacts Matthew 5:13–15 “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men. “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Fulani herdsmen have stepped up attacks on predominantly Christian villages in the central Nigerian state of Nasarawa this year. Four villages were attacked between April 2 and April 6, leaving 14 people dead, including Reverend Samuel Peter and the wife of Reverend Samson Akwe. The Fulani people are traditionally Muslim, and although no churches were destroyed, no properties owned by Muslims were damaged. Whole villages were displaced by the violence, in which the herdsmen burned homes, damaged crops, food stores and valuables. The four attacked villages are predominately inhabited by the Migili and Eggon tribes. Residents said the clashes came after the herdsmen allowed their cattle to graze on and destroy the residents’ crops. Christians in Nigeria have experienced wave after wave of violence this year in attacks like these and in a bombing campaign carried out by a terrorist group. Thank God for those who are committed to staying in the north to shine Christ’s light.

Algeria—Persecution is God’s Plan for My Life Source: VOM Contacts 2 Timothy 1:8–9 Therefore do not be ashamed of the testimony of our Lord, nor of me His prisoner, but share with me in the sufferings for the gospel according to the power of God, 9 who has saved us and called us with a holy calling, not according to our works, but according to His own purpose and grace which was given to us in Christ Jesus before time began, An evangelist in Algeria has recommitted himself to the Lord after struggling for months following some persecution for his faith. “Azad” had been a believer for several years, but became discouraged after his father chased him out of his family home, and his wife’s family threatened to take away his wife if he continued to evangelize. A few months later, his boss fired him. He told a VOM worker, “I am so discouraged, and I feel hatred against God.” He stopped reading his Bible or going to church. But one day, he asked a Christian friend for something to read. The Christian gave him Tortured for Christ, a book written by VOM’s founder about his experiences in prison. The book had a profound effect on Azad and he decided he could accept persecution for his faith. Azad understood something he couldn’t see before; that he could accept the persecution he experienced as part of God’s plan for his life. Thank God he can now share in suffering for the gospel.

Kenya—Christian Meeting Bombed by Radicals Sources: VOM Canada, Compass Direct News Psalm 23 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over. Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. On March 31, a bomb attack at an outdoor worship service killed two Christians — a woman and an eight-year-old boy — and wounded more than 30 in the Kenyan city of Mtwapa. Five hundred Christians from 16 denominations were attending the outdoor service when a hand grenade was thrown towards the pastor’s podium. Muslims were also holding a meeting near the scene of the attack, where the Islamic preachers could be heard all the way to the Christian conference vilifying Christianity. Kenyan officials blamed members of al-Shabab, a radical Islamic group in nearby Somalia, for the bomb attack. The Kenyan government had issued a warning of a possible attack by the militants during Easter. Pray for God’s peace for the families.

Latin America VOM Program Pray for believers in Latin America, where VOM is helping repair house churches that are falling apart and adding room to those which need more space for worshippers. Government regulations make it next to impossible for any kind of church construction, even upkeep. *************

Hal Lindsey Report (04-27-12): The Many Facets of Faith, Part 2

Thanks to OmniChristianVids3 for uploading the video to YouTube.

(Disclaimer: I do not own this information. Video and information from Hal Lindsey Media Ministries and weekly newsletter. Reposted here for educational purposes only.)

This week on 'The Hal Lindsey Report'
This week, I'll continue my special presentation on "The Many Facets of Faith." As I mentioned in this space last week, few subjects in the Bible are more important for us to understand than faith. I think it would be safe to say that many believers have no idea how truly important real faith is to their walk with Christ. In fact, you cannot have a walk with Christ without faith! The issue of faith pervades every aspect of our relationship with God and our service for Him. Genuine faith is the source of our strength, our provision, our courage, our guidance, and our victory over the world system, the flesh, and the Devil. Faith is the only thing that can sustain us in the trials and persecutions predicted for the last days. It's imperative that we understand exactly what faith is, how we get it, and how it grows. As we continue this examination of the role of faith in the life of the believer, I think it's important to understand that we are like aliens at war in an enemy territory from the moment we are born again into God's eternal family. We don't have the option of being pacifists in this war. We have to fight. That's why it's important to learn God's provisions for fighting and winning the war. Once again, faith is the key to victory. It is the only acceptable means we have for appropriating our strength, weapons, and armor for the battle. I refer to this as "combat faith." We'll also discuss the role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. Even the Lord Jesus depended upon the Holy Spirit to empower and to work through His human nature while He voluntarily lived on earth under the limitations of being a true man. He kept saying in various ways throughout the Gospel of John, "I can do nothing of Myself." Even though His divine nature had the power to perform any of His miracles, He voluntarily laid aside its use. Instead, by FAITH, He depended upon the Holy Spirit, who dwelt within His human nature. And it's the same Holy Spirit, activated by the same faith, that Jesus promised will do even greater works through us. I'll also discuss various aspects of the "indwelling ministry" of the Holy Spirit and how the believer achieves maturity in his or her walk with Christ. I'm reminded of that old saying, "The Christian life is not difficult. It's impossible!" Only the Holy Spirit can produce it in us as we depend -- through faith -- upon Him. But we humans seem to always have the feeling that, given enough time and the right circumstances, we can handle anything ourselves. This is such a subtle trap that the Lord has provided a special kind of training to teach us how to depend only upon the Spirit, and not our human abilities. Both Moses and Paul had to be broken of self-confidence and taught God-confidence. I refer to that course of instruction as the "B. D. Degree." Which simply means the "Backside of the Desert Degree." Finally, in order to help us understand the impossibility of living the truly Christian life, God gave us the Law. As the Apostle Paul wrote, "I would not have come to know sin except through the Law...." God gave us the Law to show us how impossible it is to become acceptable to God by our own efforts. It drives us to despair of self-effort, then leads us to see that God's provision of salvation is a gift through FAITH in Christ alone. So the more we understand about the role of faith (and grace) in our lives as believers, the more we'll be thankful to God. Then, out of a responsive heart of love toward God, we will want to serve Him. And it's the motive of love, not fear or obligation, that God wants to see us use in serving and loving Him. PROGRAMMING NOTE: Just one more reminder, "The Hal Lindsey Report" can now be seen on Inspiration Network in its new time slot, Sunday at 1:30 p.m. Eastern, 12:30 p.m. Central, 11:30 a.m. Mountain, and 10:30 a.m. Pacific.
